As a working mom to two girls, I quickly felt like life was becoming impossible to manage, solely relying on my husband and my Google calendars on our phones and laptops. I'd like to say that Skylight Calendar couldn't have come into my life at a more perfect time — but the truth is, it feels like it would be perfect at any stage of life. I honestly can't imagine functioning without it now.
Here are the ways it's helped me feel more organized:
This is probably the thing I love most about our Skylight Calendar. It’s a large touchscreen versus two hidden phone calendars that my husband and I separately manage. It’s front and center in our kitchen, and my kids love looking at it to see what’s happening that day. Each family member has a designated color, and my kids feel empowered when they can point out, “Oh I see, Daddy has a meeting at that time!” Beyond the big family schedule, it also helps them take ownership of their own routines — like bedtime or getting ready for school — giving them visibility and independence while keeping everyone in sync.
With Skylight Calendar they aren't bystanders to the family schedule. The color coding makes their activities feel just as official as mine or my husband's. That little detail shifts the energy - when my girls see that their schedule is on the screen right alongside ours, they follow through with more excitement and confidence, replacing nerves with an "I got this!" mentality. My kids love tapping to check things off when they've finished their responsibility. It makes the whole system feel interactive and rewarding for them, not just a list of adult logistics.
It even helps me stick to outside habits. When I see a workout class on the calendar, and my family sees it too, I'm held accountable. The grocery list feature has also become a family affair - my kids love pointing out when something hasn't been cross off and asking, "Mom, isn't it your turn?"
Even better, I can ask it to create a week's worth of easy family meals, and it generates recipes and a shopping list right in the Skylight. For me, this perk has been a genuine lifesaver.
Because of this, my kids see themselves as part of our family system, not just passengers being moved from one this to another. It's rare to find something that pulls every layer of family life into one place, but Skylight does. It brings cohesion to our days in a way that makes the whole family feel connected.
